Babies cry when they aren’t happy about something, and that often includes changes to their routines! Crying is how babies communicate and isn’t always a signal that you’re doing something wrong. However, there is no evidence that the Extinction Method (leaving your child alone and letting them cry for hours on end) is more effective or necessary. We can’t tell parents that teaching your child to self soothe won’t include any crying, but we will never tell you to ignore your babies cries and are not a proponent of the Extinction Method.

Regular Questions
Social behaviors such as smiling begin as early as 6 weeks, but laughing out loud usually happens within three to six months. Sometimes babies laugh when they see mom or dad, or their favorite toy, but many babies laugh just because it's fun and it feels good!
At two months, new moms should talk to their babies! Parents should play with their babies any time, but once a child reaches 2 months, talking to them is important as it starts the language learning process. Babies respond to the sounds of their parent's voices, and talking to them will encourage them to talk back!
False. Relax! Baby poop changes color, and it's a constant concern for parents. But for the most part, it needn't be. It's just part of the growing process!
Much like a baby bird hatches and comes into the word, at about 3 months your baby will hatch and come out of his shell. This is when babies start to communicate and interact with their surroundings. Cooing and other vocalizations may replace crying, and babies will start to laugh.
True.Three month old babies only cry about an hour each day. Crying is replaced by more cooing and babbling and other vocalizations as your baby tries to interact with his surroundings and communicate. If your baby cries more than about an hour, see a doctor to find out if there is an underlying cause.
Put your baby into her crib when she's awake but drowsy, and not yet fully asleep, so she can learn to soothe herself to sleep. This way, if baby wakes up in the middle of the night but doesn't need anything (he will probably cry if he does), he can get himself back to sleep without waking you.
Things To Know
Diaper rashis a common condition that many newborn babies experience. It is caused by prolonged exposure tomoisture and irritants such as urine and feces. Here are some simple and effective ways topreventdiaper rash innewborn babies:
1.Change diapersfrequently: Change your baby's diaper every two to three hours, or as soon as it becomes wet orsoiled. This will reduce the amount of time your baby's skin is exposed to moisture and irritants.
2.Keep the diaper area clean and dry: Use warm water and a soft cloth to clean your baby's diaper area( top to bottom)after every diaper change. Pat the area dry with a clean towel, or allow it to air dry for a few minutes.
3.Use a diaper cream or ointment: Apply a thin layer of your favorite diaper cream or ointment to your baby's diaper area and organic baby Vaseline on top of the ointment after every diaper change.( baby Vaseline or Aquaphor only is good enough)This will create a barrier between your baby's skin and moisture and irritants. First 8 weeks are very important as your baby might have a several dirty diapers a day. Stay alert for when your baby starts teething as their stool might become loose and potentially cause some skin rushes.
4.Avoid using wipes with alcohol or fragrance: Some baby wipes can contain alcohol or fragrance, which can irritate your baby's skin. Look for wipes that are free of these ingredients.
5.Let your baby go diaper-free: Letting your baby go without a diaper for short periods of time can help to keep their skin dry and reduce the risk of diaper rash.
6.Use breathable diapers: Choose diapers that are made from breathable materials, such as cotton or bamboo. These materials allow air to circulate around your baby's skin, reducing the risk of moisture build-up.
By following these simple steps, you can help to prevent diaper rash in your newborn baby and keep their skin healthy and comfortable. However, if your baby does develop diaper rash, it is important to speak to yourpediatrician for advice on how to treat it.
Swaddling is great! Swaddling is a practice that has been used for centuries to keep babies happy and comfortable. One of the many benefits of swaddling is that it can help with new born digestion issues such as colic and reflux.
When babies are swaddled, they are wrapped snugly in a blanket, creating a cozy and secure environment that mimics the feeling of being in the womb. This can help soothe your baby and reduce stress and anxiety, which can be a contributing factor to digestive issues.
Swaddling can also help with colic, a condition that causes excessive crying and fussiness in infants. By providing a comforting and calming effect, swaddling can help ease discomfort and reduce the symptoms of colic.
Furthermore, swaddling can help prevent reflux, a condition where stomach acid flows back into the esophagus. When babies are swaddled, they are in an upright position, which can help prevent reflux from occurring.
In addition to these benefits, swaddling can also help with sleep, reduce crying and fussiness, and prevent accidental scratching.
If you're interested in trying swaddling, it's important to learn how to do it safely and effectively. To start, use a square blanket and lay your baby on it with their head above the folded corner. Then, wrap one side of the blanket around their body, tucking it under their back, and repeat with the opposite side. Finally, fold the bottom of the blanket up and tuck it under your baby's chin. Make sure the blanket is snug but not too tight, and that your baby's hips and legs can move freely.
Remember to follow safety guidelines when swaddling, such as avoidingoverheating, keeping your baby's face uncovered, and stopping swaddling once your baby can roll over.
In conclusion, swaddling can be a helpful practice for new parents looking to promote better sleep and reduce crying and fussiness in their babies, as well as to prevent digestive issues such as colic and reflux. By swaddling your baby safely and effectively, you can provide them with a cozy and secure environment that promotes comfort and relaxation.
